“THE LIGHT THAT HEALS: How God, Science, and Stained Glass Intersected at His Place”

How God, Science, and Stained Glass Wove My Healing Story at His Place by Wendy Jean, Functional Genomics Practitioner & Founder, Clicks for a Cause

PART 1 — THE 1907 HISTORICAL BUILDING

“A sanctuary that saw it all.”

There are places on earth where healing feels thicker in the air — where light itself becomes a messenger. His Place was one of those rare spaces.

The 1907 building stood through:

  • the Great Depression

  • multiple wars

  • industrial shifts in Western PA

  • the steel era

  • booms & declines

  • pandemics

  • social change

  • economic rebuilding

  • revivals and renewals

Thousands passed through its doors —families, pastors, children, leaders, wanderers, the broken-hearted, the hopeful, the seeking.

Its walls absorbed:

  • a century of worship

  • whispered prayers

  • tears

  • celebrations

  • grief

  • healing

  • transformation

To sit inside it was to sit inside a hundred years of faith.

The building itself became part of the healing process —a witness, an anchor, and a vessel of God’s presence.

For me, His Place was one of those rare sanctuaries. A veteran owned non-profit built to serve the community and give those who feel unseen a place to speak. A building restored by visionary Anthony Ellis and now carried forward by Orchard Hill Church with a commitment to family, discipleship, outreach, and community healing. Inside the 1907 Historical building live Tiffany-style stained-glass windows that became a central part of my healing and my calling. What I didn’t know when I first walked through the doors is that God would use three stained-glass windows to rewrite parts of my story I thought were lost forever.

Inside those walls, faith and science didn’t clash— they intertwined.

There are buildings that simply exist…and there are buildings that hold history, carry memory, and absorb healing across generations.

The historical borough of Bridgewater, PA, once housed the United Methodist Church, a structure that became His Place was built in 1907 — a century-old sanctuary that had witnessed:

  • births & funerals

  • weddings & gatherings

  • wars & peace

  • revivals & quiet seasons

  • community celebrations & community wounds

  • generations of prayer

  • decades of transformation

This wasn’t just a building. It was holy ground with a memory.

Inside it were original 1907 Tiffany-style stained glass windows, crafted in the American Golden Age of sacred art — windows that didn’t just reflect light, but translated it into emotion, clarity, peace, and breakthrough.

…and the message those windows still carry today.

As a Functional Genomics Practitioner, I teach others how the body communicates through intricate patterns: detox pathways, methylation, inflammation, trauma memory, neuroplasticity, and cellular communication.

But the truth is, I had to retrain my own body to communicate again—to reopen the pathways of:

  • methylation

  • detoxification

  • trauma encoding

  • genetic expression

  • inflammation signaling

  • nervous system loops

  • and the stored memories held in my cells.

Because inside His Place, God spoke to me through light, through color, through timing, and through three windows that became part of my healing journey.

There were moments when the sunlight cut through the window exactly as I named a childhood trauma. When gold hues washed over the room as I spoke about detox and Lyme disease. When green light filled the space as I described nervous system repair. When blue poured in as I talked about peace, forgiveness, and cellular regulation.

July 15, 2024, I first stood on stage as a mother who needed to process protecting her son from political gun fire, the I stood as director of connections of communications serving others who needed a space to feel heard and process trauma and celebrate healing.

Science explained the body; God explained the timing.

In genomics, we know the body stores unprocessed trauma as molecular tension — epigenetic tags, hypervigilant immune patterns, limbic looping. But inside His Place, I watched my own nervous system unwind in sync with the shifting light.

It felt like God saying, “You’re safe. Keep going.”

This building held healing for me — and now, through Orchard Hill Church, it will continue to hold healing for so many more.

Because light doesn’t end when a building changes hands.

It multiplies.

And sometimes, healing doesn’t come as one big miracle —but in windows of light, across the seasons.

PART 2 — THE 1907 TIFFANY-STYLE WINDOWS

Sacred art designed to interact with sunlight.

The windows were handcrafted using:

  • layered opalescent glass

  • mineral-based pigments

  • signature color gradients

  • textured glass that refracts light into a three-dimensional glow

Tiffany Studios mastered the art of using sunlight to create emotion through color.

These windows weren’t ornamental. They were tools God used long before science caught up.

They were positioned to catch morning, afternoon, and evening sun —each time activating different wavelengths of healing light.

I didn’t know it then, but this is scientifically accurate.

PART 3 — THE SCIENCE OF LIGHT & HEALING

Why the windows affected the body so deeply.

✔️ 1. Light regulates the nervous system

Sunlight triggers the release of:

  • serotonin

  • dopamine

  • endorphins

  • melatonin regulation

  • vagal activation

  • reduced cortisol

Translation: light makes the body feel safe enough to heal.

✔️ 2. Colors communicate biologically

Every color wavelength affects the body differently:

  • Blue —calms the amygdala

  • Green —reduces anxiety + signals renewal

  • Gold/Amber —stimulates cellular repair

  • Red/Pink —increases circulation and emotional openness

The Tiffany windows were designed to deliver these effects purposefully.

✔️ 3. Trauma is stored in the body

Trauma leaves measurable imprints on:

  • methylation genes

  • neuroimmune pathways

  • inflammation

  • limbic system

  • gut–brain axis

  • emotional memory centers

Light + safety = release.

✔️ 4. Light during emotional truth-telling creates breakthrough

When a person is speaking truth, the brain enters a state called emotional coherence, where:

  • the body softens

  • the nervous system opens

  • memory processing improves

  • healing becomes biologically possible

Over and over, the windows responded exactly at these moments.

THE THREE SACRED WINDOWS

These deserve their own sections because they became healing instruments.

If this touched your heart, you’ll want the full story. I’m currently writing my memoir — a raw, faith-filled journey through trauma, Lyme disease, functional genomics, divine timing, environmental storms, and the healing I found through light, science, and a 1907 sanctuary that seemed to speak. It’s a deeper dive into the memories, the miracles, the windows, the suffering, and the God who met me in all of it.

To follow the journey and be the first to read sample chapters, preorder announcements, and exclusive behind-the-scenes pages, sign up below.

1 — “THE WINDOW: JESUS POINTING”

“This is the way — walk in it.”

There is a window inside His Place where Jesus is pointing — not up, not down, not sideways, but forward. It became one of the greatest symbols of my healing.

Every time the sun hit that glass, the rays would stretch across the room like a divine compass.

It felt like God was saying:

“You are not lost. You are being led.”

As a Functional Genomics Practitioner, I know science calls this orientation — the brain shifting from fear to clarity, from limbic looping into prefrontal presence.

But spiritually, this window became my instruction:

“Move. Heal. Keep going. The path is in front of you.”

There were days when the light caught Jesus’ hand at the exact second I spoke my truth, released trauma, or faced a memory I had long avoided. The timing was too precise to ignore.

This window whispered:

“God is not behind you or beside you — He is ahead of you.”

As Orchard Hill Church steps into this building, I pray every new heart who enters this place feels that same pull forward —toward purpose, toward freedom, toward the life God meant for them.

This window is not just art. It is assignment. It points each of us back to Christ, and onward into our calling.

JESUS POINTING

Symbol: Direction, clarity, calling

Science: Activates the decision centers of the brain

This window lit up during:

  • moments of forgiveness

  • identity breakthroughs

  • releasing childhood trauma

  • calling and purpose moments

  • “What’s my next step?” prayers

The pointing hand felt like God saying:

“This way. Keep going. I’m ahead of you.”

2 — “THE WINDOW: JESUS HOLDING THE LAMB”

“The Shepherd sees you.”

In another window, Jesus is holding a lamb — the most tender image in the entire sanctuary. This window held me in ways I didn’t expect.

There were days I walked into His Place exhausted — from Lyme, from trauma, from advocacy, from the weight of rebuilding my life. But this window reminded me:

I’m not carrying this alone. I’m the one being carried.

Science tells us that healing requires safety — a sense of being held, protected, and understood.

But faith tells us who holds us.

The Shepherd.

The Protector.

The One who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one who is trembling.

When the sun lit up Jesus’ arms around the lamb, I felt my nervous system shift —from fight-or-flight to rest-and-repair, from hypervigilance to peace.

This window did not just comfort me; it recalibrated me.

And then, as the community gathered here to mourn Charlie Kirk —filling this historic 1907 sanctuary with grief, unity, love, and shared sorrow —I witnessed that same power at work beyond my own story.

Even in heartbreak, the Shepherd was present. This building held people the way that window once held me.

More wanderers were comforted.

More broken hearts found one another.

More tears became prayers.

Because the Shepherd is still here —

still watching,

still comforting,

still carrying His children home.

HOLDING THE LAMB

Symbol: Safety, comfort, protection

Science: The nervous system heals in safety

This window consistently caught light when:

  • tears flowed

  • memories surfaced

  • someone felt lost, tired, or overwhelmed

  • emotional burdens were released

Your body cannot heal when it feels threatened.

This window told my nervous system:

“You are held. You are safe.”

⚓ 3 — “THE ANCHOR WINDOW”

“Hope is the anchor of the soul.” — Hebrews 6:19

The anchor is one of the most powerful symbols in Scripture — and in this building.

Where the pointing Jesus calls us forward and the Shepherd Jesus carries us, the anchor steadies us.

This window represented the season of my healing where God said:

“You’re not drifting anymore.”

In biology, stability is crucial — stable blood sugar, stable nervous system, stable detox pathways. But in the spirit, God Himself becomes our stabilizer.

There were moments in His Place when storms felt close — the weight of my advocacy, the pain of my past, the triggers, the tremors, the memories. But then the light would hit the anchor window.

Every time, it brought the same message:

“I will hold you steady until the storm passes.”

It reminded me that healing is not just emotional or physical —it is spiritual anchoring. It is fastening our hope to something that cannot be moved.

As Orchard Hill now stewards this building, may this anchor remain a symbol of:

  • unwavering hope

  • unshakable truth

  • spiritual stability

  • Christ as the foundation

This house may have entered a new chapter, but the anchor still holds.

THE ANCHOR

Symbol: Hope, stability, foundation

Science: Grounding + long-term neurological repair

This window was the one that said:

“You’re not drifting anymore.”

It represented:

  • stability

  • long-term healing

  • spiritual grounding

  • peace after storms

  • generational hope

Science calls this homeostasis.

Scripture calls it hope.

Orchard Hill continues the mission of His Place, while Clicks for a Cause carries the community forward with heart, service, and connection.

A new chapter doesn’t erase the old one.

It fulfills it.

Orchard Hill Church now carries forward:

  • family ministry

  • discipleship

  • community healing

  • spiritual formation

  • outreach

  • next-generation investment

The 1907 building is in good hands.

Its legacy will not fade —

it will multiply.

The windows will keep shining.

The prayers will keep being answered.

The healing will continue.
