My husband grew up cooking in restaurants and could name every ingredient by taste. I was so envious as BBQ sauce tasted like BBQ sauce and I had to do research to know WTF- What The Fork was in it!
I used to never like anything spicy but when I was pregnant, I craved condiments and spice. Yes, condiments! I did not care if it was ranch, ketchup, sweet and sour or BBQ sauce, I could eat it out of the bottle. As the years passed, my cravings stuck around and I found myself enjoying even more spice.
Fast forward to today and I am obsessed with spicy BBQ sauces. As a result of being exposed to toxic mold, I was diagnosed with MARCONS, Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staph. As I had to eliminate gluten and limit processed sugars my go to foods seemed to disappear but I wasn't going to live without condiments. We LOVE to grill so I played around with a bbq recipe that we were obsessed with and created an amazing gluten free low sugar Honey BBQ Sauce.
My family does not have a Gluten allergy or Celiac Disease but a sensitivity due to an issue breaking down the gluten due to MTHFR genetic mutation. My Nutritionist explained that I wasn't able to figure out the ingredients because of this Biotoxin Illness. A post on Health.com states,"A sinus infection can dull your sense of taste, even though you’ll still be able to tell if something is salty or sweet, according to Dr. Papa. But finer nuances of taste—like the flavor of a fine wine or subtle soufflé—might be lost on you until your sinuses become unplugged." As I started my detox protocol food started to taste different. It tasted different because I was no longer overloading myself with sweet processed sugars and the reduced inflammation allowed air movement in the sinuses.
Always make sure you are reading and researching ingredients to fit your dietary needs.

According to Sweet Baby Ray's and Franks Red Hot website many of their products are Gluten Free. I had to switch from Sweet Baby Ray's due to the high fructose corn syrup due to my sons allergy to corn. I found Jim Beam Smokey Barrel BBQ Sauce that is all natural and gluten free. Per McCormick website, "McCormick® will always declare gluten ingredients on our label in the ingredients statement. Gluten is listed as "wheat", "barley", “rye”, “oats”, “spelt”, “triticale”, “kamut” or any protein containing part thereof and hybridized strains of these grains in our ingredient statements."
