5 Ways to Detox at Home

April 17, 2018

We are faced hundreds of invisible Toxins everyday so how do you detox? There are toxins in our water, in our air, in our homes and outside. These 5 things help me detox my body and home. I have a genetic mutation called HLA-DR and MTHFR which makes my body unable to detox naturally. Here are 5 Do It Yourself ways to Detox at home. Always seek advice from medical professionals and get a detox plan specific to your body and genetics.

#1 Take regular Salt Baths

You can buy so many different Bath salts these days. I prefer Mr. Teals Clay and Ginger detox bath salts. These salts, bubble baths and body washes have a wonderful aroma and detox properties. From Dr. Teals website, "When you soak 20 minutes in the bath your body absorbs the water and salt. Add 2 cups of Dr Teal’s Detoxify & Energize Soak with Ginger and Clay extracts to a warm bath to help cleanse away your body’s impurities. For best results, soak at least twice per week."

#2 Lemons, Lemons, Lemons

Lemons are great for detoxing. You can add lemon to your water and drink when you wake up to alkaline (balance) your system. Your immune system is in your gut so preparing your gut for the day ahead is key for detoxing. You can add lemon to your cooking and finish the day with a cup of herbal tea with lemon. You can even use Lemons as a non toxic household cleaner. According to one of our favorite wellness websites, "Because lemon juice’s atomic structure is similar to the digestive juices found in the stomach, it tricks the liver into producing bile, which helps keep food moving through your body and gastrointestinal tract smoothly. Lemon water also helps relieve indigestion or ease an upset stomach." You can read full article at Dr. Ave Food is Medicine

#3 Infra Red Saunas

Infrared Saunas are key for those of us like myself whom cannot detox properly due to genetics. Don't like going to a gym? Me too, Infrared Saunas can range from $200 to $2000 and can be bought for your home. These saunas get hotter then regular saunas and produce your body to sweat, Sweating is key to getting the toxins out of your body.

According to the Radiant Sauna website "An additional Study on the Toxic Load in North AmericansA study in 2004 in the United States spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) in collaboration with Commonweal, researchers at two major laboratories found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in umbilical cord blood from 10 babies born in August and September of 2004 in U.S. hospitals. Tests revealed a total of 287 chemicals in the group. The study states: “Of the 287 chemicals we detected in umbilical cord blood, we know that 180 can cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.” 2The amount of industrial chemicals and environmental pollutants has increased exponentially since 2004. In many cases when someone is dealing with a chronic health problem it is often a toxicity issue. A number of Doctors now believe that the “toxic load” of these patients is very high and their detoxification pathways are often compromised. When one is able to reduce the toxins in these patients, their symptoms often greatly improve. Sweating in the infrared sauna takes the detoxifying load off your liver and kidneys by the direct elimination of toxins through the skin. Infrared saunas are effective in removing both Lipophillic (fat-stored) toxins and toxins in the bloodstream.A number of people are also suffering unknowingly from mercury poisoning or from other heavy metals, such as lead and aluminum. The infrared sauna has been invaluable in accelerating the removal of these toxic metals."

#4 Drink more water

This is seems like a no brainer but when the days pass quickly the last thing you  probably think about is stopping to drink water. You in fact might be dehydrating yourself. You should be drinking half of your weight in ounces of water. Personally through the direction of my clinical nutritionist I drink 70 ounces of water a day. I love La Croix as it gives me the feeling of drinking a soda with the can and a little carbonation. Some of the flavors took a little time to get use to as there are 0 sugars and I was addicted to sugar! I drink a lot of tea and the occasional cup of coffee to ensure I am hitting my water intake. Water is vital health benefits, including: Toxin removal and detox. Balancing the pH of the body. Better digestive health. Boosting immune function. Improving mood. Increasing energy levels. Be cautious of bottles water as the plastic containers allow toxins to get into your water. Also do not allow a bottle of water to sit all day or over night as bacteria will start to grow and you will ingest it the next time you take a drink. I suggest in investing in a great non toxic container or filtered water. Having filtered water will also get you some exercise when you go to fill your cup again. It is a Win! Win!

#5 Vacuum daily

We live in a toxic world and the second we arrive home we are bringing outside toxins
in and stirring up the toxins already in our home. After we had our home remediatied from Toxic Mold we bought the Shark Duo Clean with Hep Filter. The vacuum is the coolest vacuum I have ever had for several reasons. Not having energy to use a duster, vacuum, broom, etc. due to Chronic Fatigue the easy attachment makes it easier for me to keep up my cleaning with one product. Here are a few photos of my home before and after using my Shark Duo Clean.
